About Me
My name is Skyler Avila and I am the School Counselor at Kreft Primary School. This will be my fourth year as the counselor at Kreft and fifth year as a school counselor. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and I received my Master's of Education, School Counseling from Western Illinois University in May 2014 and my Bachelor's degree from Saint Ambrose University in 2008. My professional experience includes the following: School Counselor in PK-4th grade building, Case Manager for adults with severe mental health disorders, and Remedial Service Provider for children and adolescents with mental health disorders.
I love spending time with my family which includes my husband, our daughter, and our dog. We enjoy dancing, bike riding, playing games, and just being silly together!

What is School Counseling? |
The school counselor provides a comprehensive counseling program for all students. The counselor provides classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling for students. The counselor provides academic, career, and social/emotional learning opportunities and skills for all students. The school counselor also collaborates with parents, teachers, and administration to provide students with the best possible services to be successful learners and citizens. Referrals and linkage to additional services may also be provided on an as needed basis.
