Back to School TransitionIt was so fun to see everyone last night at supply drop off night. This is such an exciting time of year and I look forward to seeing all of the students tomorrow! The first round of guidance lessons students will be learning the expectations and procedures for guidance. They will have an opportunity to explore the centers and get to know other students in their class.
The first day of school can elicit a wide range of emotions for kids (and parents). If your child is having a difficult time transitioning here are some things you can do to help:

Guidance Classroom: I am excited to share that this year I will have my own classroom and students will come to me for guidance lessons. This year I will be using a new resource, Second Step, to teach the following skills: Skills for Learning, Empathy, Emotion Management, and Problem Solving. There are three expectations for my classroom:
Students will have opportunities to practice and apply the skills learned in guidance lessons. During center rotations they will have to work together in small groups and develop social skills, self-regulation, problem solving, etc. through cooperative play opportunities. |
